Starbucks Recipe Leak

I can imagine that we have all been there. Sometimes a person is craving a little ‘autumn-in-a-cup' even though the sun is beaming through the windows on a hot summer day. I can relate to the thought that nothing would satisfy the taste buds more than a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte, but you’re forced to wait until it’s back in season.

Luckily for us, and unluckily for Starbucks, a former employee of the coffee chain, under the username @_Curtdoggg, recently leaked the list of ingredients and step-by-step instructions to all the drinks at Starbucks on Twitter. Anyone can find several of the images on reposted videos on TikTok where the former employee is holding up cards for viewers to screenshot their favorite recipes.

The employee also explains which pumps to use and where people can buy them online to make different drinks.

“You mean, I’m about to be a Starbucks girly from home????” one user on TikTok commented on the video. Another wrote “…sometimes [Starbucks] make[s] my drinks too bitter” after the user said they were definitely going to try to make their own drinks.

It’s unlikely that this will cause any significant losses for the, according to Britannica, the “largest coffeehouse chain and one of the most recognizable brands in the world.” However, it is safe to say that many coffee lovers will have the opportunity now to save a few coins and satisfy their coffee needs right in their kitchens.

However, this does beg the question as to why the former employee would leak these recipes. While it may save some money and time for Starbucks consumers in the long run, this decision may not be as ethically clear as it may appear. Wherever you may stand on the matter, it should also be recognized that this is a breach of the confidentiality of these recipes. In some ways it can take away from the fun elements of buying a coffee. It can seem that coffee is such a simple concept but going to Starbucks is a break and an opportunity to spend time with friends and catch up with. If we get access to everything at our fingertips, it is easy to take advantages of these benefits and take the simpler things for granted.

To some, it may be as simple as a few coffee recipes leaked, but it is also potentially a simple explanation to a much topic of conversation. Just because we can have access to so many resources and things that make our lives easier, it can become increasingly challenging to draw the line of where to stop.

It is a great time for Starbucks lovers to hop on board the trend and try make all of their favorite drinks. It is also important to remember, that sometimes the mysteries are part of the enjoyment in life, so do not feel that hopping on the trend train is always the right decision for everyone
