The Meredith Herald Editorial Board Statement: Student Walk-out

With the emphasis on community at Meredith, the solidarity that was displayed between students, faculty and all others who participated in the walk-out was nothing short of empowering. When we were told not to rely on one another, we showed that our true strengths lie in the support that we can provide to each other during such times of uncertainty. Displays like what happened today to advocate for ourselves and our quality of life and education here at Meredith is truly what STRONG looks like.

To the faculty and staff who are struggling, feel unappreciated and suddenly have changes in their careers; we support and appreciate you for all that you do to make Meredith strong. Meredith cannot be strong without our entire community, including all faculty, staff, alums and students.

Student voices MATTER and we will not allow our peers to be silenced. As student journalists, we commend our fellow students community for speaking out against recent administrative moves that have negatively impacted the Meredith community as a whole. The Herald takes pride in its role as an outlet to uplift student voices, and we will continue to do so with further coverage of the protest and the following events. Justice for Meredith and what the Onyx stands for.
