Treat Your Skin

- By Emma Gomes, Staff Writer -

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us — or is it quite the opposite? The sudden influx of wintry weather and end of year assignments can be stressful for our skin. It may seem difficult to implement a tedious routine on top of a hectic schedule, so I’ve curated for you a list of effortless suggestions to keep your skin glowing this season.

First and foremost, stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. Straightforward, right? Yet, it’s the most effective. Secondly, integrate a SPF moisturizer into your daily routine. Most people fall under the impression that sunscreen can be tucked away since summer is behind us, but protecting yourself from UV radiation is a year-long affair. Thirdly, don’t be afraid to put oil on your skin. The chilly weather will strip your skin of the moisture that it naturally produces, so restoring that moisture with coconut oil, almond oil, argan oil, or jojoba oil before bed each night will help you start each morning feeling rejuvenated. Whole Foods’ ‘Whole Body’ department has an extensive section of skin products to choose from including moisturizers, oils, face mists, toners, and more.

Last but not least, nourish your skin from the inside out by eating healthy. The simple fact is that whatever you put into your body will be reflected in the overall quality of your skin. Remember that fruits and veggies make for good study snacks too, so try to include a few. No need to worry if you aren’t able to integrate every step into your routine. It’s all about what works best for you, so start now — your skin will thank you.
