We have made it to the end of the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year! To celebrate both the end of the year and end of the semester, events have been happening all over Meredith's campus.

The holiday season was kicked off on Nov. 29 with a “Winter Workshop” under Belk Dining Hall in the Dogwood and Oak Rooms. The event featured cookie decorating and ornament crafts.

On Dec. 3 and 4, music majors performed at Winterfest, which served as their final exam as well. The two performances included the Meredith College Philharmonic, Octavia and Choirs.

The Carlyle Campbell Library is hosting a de-stress Coloring Event on the first floor at 10 a.m. on Dec. 7 and will be having a game night in the Freeman Room on Dec. 8 from 6-8 p.m.

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) will be hosting a Winter Wonderland event in celebration of the last day of classes on Dec.7 from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. at which they will have bingo, coloring pages, crafts and pancakes served by Meredith professors. Admission is $1.

In addition to school-wide events, individual clubs and organizations are also throwing some end-of-semester events. The 1891 Club will be throwing a Last Day of Class Celebration in the Cate Center Alcove from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Most residence halls are also having events hosted by their resident assistants and Residence Directors. There is no shortage of things to do to celebrate the end of fall semester! These events will all be in celebration of student success and are great ways to take breaks between studying..

End-of-Semester Events celebrate academic achievements, friendships, and milestones after months of hard work. Campuses come alive with gatherings and reflections, similar to traditions at institutions like the University of Sydney, where students mark the close of a term with community activities and shared experiences.

End-of-semester events serve as a culmination of students’ hard work and dedication throughout the academic term, providing a platform to celebrate achievements, showcase talents, and highlight the skills they have developed. This holistic preparation is particularly valuable for students aiming for prestigious opportunities and global exposure, including competitive programs and internships like Oxford University placements, where demonstrated skills, accomplishments, and networking experience can make a significant difference.
