International Education Week (IEW) takes place between Nov. 13 and Nov. 17. International Education Week, according to The US Department of State, is an opportunity to “celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.” The Meredith International Association (MIA) and The Office of International Programs (OIP) will be hosting events throughout the week related to IEW.

On Monday, Nov 13, there will be a Study Abroad Funding workshop at 10am in Ledford 111. Students interested in studying abroad can attend the event to learn more about possible scholarships and financial aid opportunities.

The World Languages and Cultures “A Taste of Culture'' event will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. on the second floor of the Cate Center. The event will include tasting dishes from around the world with food and drinks from China, Costa Rica, Kenya, Spain, Colombia, Italy and the Caribbean. This event counts as an Academic and Cultural Event, and is sure to be a tasty evening.

On Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. in Martin 113, the Fall 2024 Semester in Italy session will be providing information for those interested in studying abroad in Sansepolcro, Italy for the semester. Program dates, costs, course options and more will be discussed during the information session.

Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., MIA will be hosting their annual UN Dinner in Belk Dining Hall West . According to the flyer shared on their Instagram, this year's theme is ‘From Our Hearts to Afghanistan: a UN Dinner Fundraiser’. The event will be raising funds for earthquake relief in Herat, Afghanistan. The flyer advertises that the UN Dinner will feature guest speakers and student panelists from Afghanistan who will share their perspective on “ongoing struggles in their country and call for global action.” This event requires a ticket, and reservation details will be available soon. All ticket funds from the ticket sales will “directly support Afghanistan’s earthquake relief.” The funds collected will be given to the Women for Afghan Women, a non-government organization “currently giving relief to these communities in need.” This event counts as an Academic and Cultural Event.

The Meredith Abroad Fair will be held on Friday, Nov. 17 at 10am in the Cate Center Lobby. According to the @mcglobal Instagram page, “This event will be specific to students who are interested in Meredith faculty-led study abroad programs.” Faculty and study abroad alumni from each program will be present to answer any questions from interested students.
