New This Month:

“Skin” by Sabrina Carpenter

This song may be controversial for some, but the message is clear. After the drama between Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, Carpenter’s single illustrates how the media and sometimes fans portray the “bad guy.” Sabrina’s anthem brings understanding to the situation. It shows that there are always two sides to every story. Listeners were quick to catch different clues within the song, which makes it a fun listening experience. It’s fun that the song is catchy, too. No matter what side you are on with this drama, it is easy to admit that both women have made great singles. Carpenter’s song is not just about this drama, though. It is a collection of multiple situations in Carpenter’s life. Sabrina did a great job of giving her side of the story, and she showed her artistry beautifully through her vocals. For more information on the situation, here’s a timeline from The Herald.

Smackables EP by PRETTYMUCH

If you haven’t heard of PRETTYMUCH, you’re missing out. This is their fourth EP, and it does not disappoint. It perfectly captures who they are as artists. Their talent exudes out of every beat of this EP. With complete control over its production, PRETTYMUCH’s heart can be heard on every track. My personal favorite from the EP is “Parking Spot.” The beat is contagious, and the vocals are top-tier. It’s difficult to pick a favorite because each song is different in its own way. Yet, even though they’re different, they all tie together to create a great story. They all focus on the highs and lows of love. If you’re looking for some new tunes to rock to; look no further. This EP deserves a gold star. Feel free to give it a listen.

“Magic” by AZUL

Do you believe in magic? You will after you are under AZUL’s musical spell. This song has been on repeat for me since I first heard it. It has such a positive tone, which we desperately need now. With her powerhouse vocals and relatable statements, AZUL’s song can resonate with anyone. We all want to believe in something and this song will give you the strength to find that something. Personally, when I met with AZUL, she was a ray of light. Her artistry is one of her deep passions. She so easily shares her love of music, and it’s energizing. “Eloise” by Peter McPoland

I would like to thank the TikTok “For You Page” for giving me the opportunity to listen to this single. Peter McPoland has a very unique aura to him that is admirable in an artist. His voice is genuine, and his tone is striking in a positive way. The story of the song is just as striking. Our world is a scary place, but we can’t forget about the people who try to change that. The song’s rhythm is easy to follow and will definitely be playing on repeat in your head for a while after listening. I think the best way to listen to this song is on a rainy day. That’s the best way I can describe the vibe it gives off. This track will easily be a new favorite.

Artists like Peter McPoland: Conan Gray and The Lumineers

Valleyheart by Lostboycrow

I have played this album every single morning since I found it. There is something so intoxicating about every track. Lostboycrow’s voice is so easy to listen to and fun to dance to. Each track perfectly captures the essence of summer, which is refreshing during this winter season. It makes me think of the beach, and who doesn’t love to think about that? My personal favorites are “Strawberry Sunscreen,” “November Sleep” and “Oceans and Roads.” I’m warning you now, don’t be mad when the repeat button gets stuck on this album.

Artists like Lostboycrow: Ashton Irwin and All Time Low

“Gimme the Night” by Jackii Kennedy

We all need to take cover because Jackii Kennedy is going to take the music world by storm. This song feels like falling in love. Jackii Kennedy goes straight from your ears to your heart with this track. You’ll be able to not only hear this track but feel it, too. It takes a lot of power to create that specificity and, for that, I give Jackii Kennedy kudos. The lyrics, the vocals and the instrumentals are immaculate. We should all be looking forward to what she does next.

Artists like Jackii Kennedy: Maggie Rogers and HAIM

“When It Breaks” by Inhaler

I immediately feel cool when I listen to this track; something about it makes me feel like a rebellious teenager. That feeling fades with meaning, though. With our unsteady world, we all want someone to rely on. This song communicates that in a thrilling way. With its electric instrumentation and vocals, it’s an easy favorite. The chorus is captivating, and I can only imagine that this song is even more incredible live. This track truly makes me miss concerts. Songs like this are hard to come by, so check this one out.

Artists like Inhaler: Catfish and The Bottlemen and Blossoms

Still On Repeat:

“Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift

Yes, I know that, technically, this song is new. It’s a classic, though. We should all be proud of Taylor Swift for how she fought for the ownership of her art. This re-release goes to show just how talented and timeless Swift is. Over a decade later, she still is true to herself in her music. That is something that anyone can look up to. Swift’s fearless approach is an inspiration. Personally, I love the story she’s writing for herself. Swift’s re-releases will go down in history. I am looking forward to what is next.

Other songs like this by Taylor Swift: “Willow” and “Lover”

“it’s not u it’s me” by Bea Miller and 6LACK

This song uses a catchy backtrack and uplifting verses to share its important message: you can’t love someone else unless you love yourself. Sometimes, that discovery is really hard to make. Bea Miller captures this feeling perfectly. My favorite lyric from this song is “Self-love ain’t selfish, my love reigns supreme, you felt it.” I just think this line is such a powerful statement. Knowing your worth is everything, and Bea Miller proves that with this well-crafted track. Also, 6LACK brings amazing texture to the song.

Other songs like this by Bea Miller: “S.L.U.T.” and “feel something”

“London Lights” by With Confidence

If you’ve ever loved someone from a distance, this song is your anthem. I absolutely lose it every time I hear the bridge of this song. It truly expresses the feeling of the story. The ability of the band to make the listener feel the same emotions as the song is magical. Most of With Confidence’s songs are brilliant at sharing the song’s emotion with the listener. If this is the future of pop-rock, we are in luck. I would definitely give their other songs a listen.

Other songs like this by With Confidence: “Bruise” and “Godzilla”
