First Win in 29 Years for Wolfpack Women’s Basketball

Updated: Mar 25, 2021

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) recently hosted its Women’s College Basketball tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum, with the final game on March 8. North Carolina State University women battled for the title against Florida State University. The close game ended  with a final score of 71-66. Up until the 2:28 minute mark, the Wolfpack women were trailing the Seminoles, but then Aislinn Konig knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the score. Two fouls were made against NC State and they made all the free throws, putting State up by four points with less than a minute remaining. This win was the first tournament win they have had in 29 years, ranking them in the top four nationwide this year.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, the NCAA tournament, along with all organized sports in the US, has been cancelled; however, overall, the season was highly successful for the Wolfpack women with a record 28 wins to four losses.
