Sizzlin' September Recap

Meredith College’s annual Sizzling September Street Fest, hosted by the Meredith Activities Board, was held on Friday, Sep. 19, 2025 from 3-7 PM. At 3:30, students were already lined up at the welcome booth outside of Jones Chapel, ready to collect merchandise for the fest and a meal voucher for one of the three food trucks rented. The Latin Effect, served Tacos, Taquitos, Catrachitas. Moes BBQ, served students an assorted menu of classic southern BBQ staples and Greek On Wheels, a truck serving Mediterranean cuisine. Students were also given vouchers for a drink and a shaved Kona Ice.  

There were seating areas where students could rest and enjoy a variety of music, played by the live band: Hot Sauce. They played for most of the evening, keeping the crowd moving. In addition to the live music, Grains of Time, an acapella group from NC State, came and gave a swoon-worthy performance, including their substitution of the lyrics from My Girl by The Temptations, switching the beginning of the chorus from My girl, My girl, My girl to Meredith, Meredith, Meredith.

 At the festival, the SGA and BSU held a mini photo op where students could pose with various themed props. Other clubs were set up besides the band as well, including: the Meredith Recreation Association, who were doing trivia themed around Meredith traditions, The Muslims Student Association, who offered Henna, and the Pagan Angels Association, which gave the chance to receive a tarot reading to attendees. These and other Clubs and organizations handed out goodies as well, such as candy and stickers. Non- Meredith students also attended the event, lots of family ,friends, other community members and even pets came. As the evening went on students and guests, all just enjoyed the evening with warm air and good vibes.
