On Wednesday, Feb. 2, the Meredith College Office of International Programs (OIP) will be hosting its Meredith Abroad Fair from 10 to 11 a.m. on the first floor of the Cate Center. The event will be held in person, and masks and social distancing will be required.
At the Meredith Abroad Fair, students will be able to connect with faculty who will be leading study abroad programs this summer and fall. Program locations this summer include Italy, the United Kingdom and Costa Rica. Meredith’s semester-long program takes place in Sansepolcro, Italy. The event will also provide students with information about scholarships and financial aid available for study abroad. Scholarships are both merit-based and need-based; for example, the Semester in Italy program this fall offers scholarships of $5,000.
While studying abroad, Meredith students can take courses to fulfill major, minor and/or general education requirements. Summer programs usually offer between three and 12 credit hours and range in length from two to eight weeks. Students can take a full semester of courses that fulfill general education and/or major requirements through the Semester in Italy program. The application deadline for summer 2022 study abroad programs and scholarships is Feb. 15. The deadline to apply for the Fall 2022 Semester in Italy program and scholarships has been extended to March 1.
The OIP is continuing to monitor pandemic conditions and focus on student health and safety. Dr. Brooke Shurer, Director of International Programs, told The Herald, “We had an outstanding fall semester of study abroad at Meredith [and] spring study abroad students are either already abroad or beginning programs soon. We are very optimistic about summer and fall 2022 programs!”
