
April 18: Softball game at home against NC Wesleyan University
The softball team played a double-header against NC Wesleyan and won both games. The final score of the first game was 9-7. Emily Clemmons, ‘21, Payton Aldridge, ‘21, Hannah Weigle and Danielle Hunt pitched for the first game. Tatum Smith and Brie Caldwell were both up to bat four times during the game and scored one run each. Senior Alyssa Drake and freshman Sarah Manis were both up to bat three times and scored two runs each. Anna Goldman was up to bat twice and scored two runs. Freshman Mia Staggs was up to bat once and scored one run. The final score of the second game was 6-3. Sarah Gundlach and Hannah Weigle pitched during the second game. Alyssa Drake was up to bat four times and scored two runs. Tatum Smith was up to bat four times and scored one run. Anna Goldman was up to bat twice and scored two runs. Laura Tobin scored one run in the second game.
April 20: Lacrosse game at home against Christopher Newport University
The lacrosse team took on Christopher Newport University and lost with a final score of 15-8. Senior Joy Deitrich was the goalie for this game. Senior Lilia Cruz scored five goals, had two assists, eight total shots, four ground balls and one draw control. Olivia Blake, Kylie Phillips and Jessica Dowdy, ‘24, scored one goal each.
April 23: Softball game at home against William Peace University
The softball team played a double-header against William Peace University and won one out of the two games. The final score of the first game was 4-0. Sarah Gundlach pitched for the first game. Freshman Sarah Manis was up to bat four times and scored two runs. Tatum Smith was up to bat four times and scored one run. Senior Rachel Johnson was up to bat twice and scored one run. The final score of the second game was 5-2. Alyssa Drake, ‘21, and Sarah Manis were up to bat four times and scored one run each.
April 23: Lacrosse game at home against Averett University
The lacrosse team took on Averett University and won with a score of 24-1, which advances them to the USA South Championship Game. Senior Joy Deitrich and freshman Madeline Horrell were the goalies for this game. Senior Briana Petrusa scored five goals, had three assists, five total shots, one ground ball and four draw controls. Olivia Blake scored four goals, had five assists and five total shots. Kylie Phillips scored four goals, had one assist and four total shots. Maya Flake scored three goals, had five assists and four total shots. Tori Witmer scored three goals, had two assists, four total shots and one ground ball. Senior Lilia Cruz scored three goals, had five total shots, had six ground balls and six draw controls. Freshman Jessica Dowdy scored one goal, had one assist, one total shot, one ground ball and six draw controls. Arrianna May, ‘24, scored one goal, had four total shots, three ground balls and two draw controls. The lacrosse team now awaits their match for the USA South Championship game on May 1.
