Sept. 1: Volleyball game against Roanoke College


The volleyball team won against Roanoke College in their first game of the season with a final score of 3-1. Senior Whitney Bolton had a total of 41 attempts, 14 kills, two digs and one block assist. Freshman Martin-Maine ​​Wrangell had a total of 23 attempts, seven kills and two block assists. Senior Avery Bowman had a total of 22 attempts, eight kills, 14 digs and two block assists. Lauren Bissette had a total of 15 attempts, eight kills, four block solos and two block assists. Freshman Ali Polidori had 14 total attempts and five kills. Freshman Sara Dees had a total of 12 attempts, six kills, one dig, one block solo and three block assists. Senior Lauren Phillips had a total of two attempts and 24 digs. Senior Bailey Lucas had a total of two attempts and four digs. Freshman Emily Emerson had 15 digs. Hannah Jo Jablonski finished with four digs.


Sept. 3: Volleyball game against Geneva College


The volleyball team won against Geneva College with a final score of 3-0. Hailey Long had a total of 17 attempts, six kills, two digs and two block assists. Whitney Bolton had a total of 16 attempts, eight kills and one dig. Avery Bowman had a total of 13 attempts, 5 kills, four digs and one block assist. Martin-Maine Wrangell had a total of 10 attempts, two kills, one block solo and one block assist. Lauren Bissette had a total of eight attempts, five kills, one dig and two block assists. Sara Dees had a total of seven attempts, five kills and five digs. Lauren Phillips had a total of three attempts, one kill and 12 digs. Emily Emerson had a total of one attempt, one kill and eight digs. Bailey Lucas had a total of one attempt, one kill and two digs. Hannah Jo Jablonski had eight digs.


Sept. 4: Cross country meet at the Fleet Feet Invitational


The cross country team started their season out with a 6th place finish at the Fleet Feet Invitational. Julie Tonon finished with a time of 21:16.0. Isabella Saudo finished with a time of 22:31.4. Kaylee Spencer finished with a time of 23:01.6. Ashleigh Buser finished with a time of 23:20.5. Michelle Gladdis finished with a time of 24:40.9. Claire Miller finished with a time of 25:29.7. Emily Ward finished with a time of 26:11.5. Senior Mitxi Ortiz finished with a time of 28:29.1. Senior Isabelle Pasley finished with a time of 33:04.5. Freshman Keerthi Tammineni finished with a time of 33:25.9. Cross country’s next meet is Sept. 17 at the Adidas XC Challenge.


Sept. 4: Volleyball game against Virginia Wesleyan College


The volleyball team had their first loss of the season against Virginia Wesleyan College with a score of 0-3. Avery Bowman had a total of 30 attempts, five kills, 10 digs and one block assist. Whitney Bolton had a total of 24 attempts, seven kills and one dig. Hailey Long had a total of 21 attempts, seven kills and one dig. Lauren Bissette had a total of 15 attempts, four kills and two digs. Sara Dees had a total of 14 attempts, four kills, two digs, three block solos and one block assist. Martin-Maine Wrangell had a total of 14 attempts, four kills and two digs. Freshman Madelyn Clark had a total of four attempts and one dig. Lauren Phillips had a total of three attempts, one kill and 23 digs. Bailey Lucas had a total of two attempts and five digs. Hannah Jo Jablonski had a total of one attempt and nine digs. Emily Emerson had a total of 11 digs. Volleyball’s next match is scheduled for Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. against Randolph-Macon College.


Sept. 4: Soccer game against Bob Jones University


The soccer team started their season with a win against Bob Jones 1-0. Kaelin Sanderford scored the winning goal. Senior Lilly Fox had three shots and three shots on goal. Rachel Johnson had three shots and two shots on goal. Freshman Lillian Bennett had two shots and one shot on goal. Freshman Kalin Creech had one shot and one shot on goal. Freshman Meredith Warrick had one shot total. Soccer is scheduled to play again Sep.11 at 11 a.m. against Guilford College.
